Food as Medicine
Food is so much more than just fuel. It can be a way for us to connect with each other, it can be a creative outlet for those who enjoy cooking and food can be our medicine. A big part of the work I do with my clients is implement nutritional medicine protocols and educate around diet to get long lasting maintainable results that extend beyond the duration of our work together.
As we transition into Autumn here in Western Australia - or more accurately Djeran, according to the Noongar seasons, the change of season brings with it immune and energetic challenges. As the days gradually become cooler and shorter, now is a fantastic time to start bring in more warming, nourishing, blood building and easily digestible foods to support energy production and immune function as we adapt to the change of season.
In my own household, on the cusp of Djeran, my husband had been hit with a cold that just wasn’t budging, so it was time to practice what I preach, bring in food as medicine and cook up a nice big batch of my favourite “Chicken Noodle Soup” for dinner. Lo and behold, he woke up feeling remarkably better the next day. I hope you can use this recipe too, to support yourself or your family through seasonal change or bring out on those moments when someone in the house hold is a bit run down!
